On Friday and Saturday, we attended the WACAP weekend which is two days of classes devoted to parents new to the adoption scene. Our first day was intended to help us understand the program that we've decided to work with, meet our social worker and get a general overview of the homestudy process. Kind of boring, but essential none-the-less. Saturday was a bit more fun and useful in our opinion. We had classes on grief and loss, child identity, trans-racial families, attachment and bonding and then met with a parent who adopted through the agency. Our heads are spinning off their axis people! We would tell you more about it now, but the information is so volumonous and is better handled in itty-bitty pieces slowly. It's kind of like eating...if you get too much in your pie-hole at one time, you will choke to death.
The news we'll share now...it's official that we'll be adopting from South Korea :)
