Keepin' the Love Alive...

That was the title of the class that we attended last night. Although much of the information presented was stuff that we've heard throughout our lives, it is always good to get a refresher. The counselor stressed the importance of maintaining our marital relationship as a separate entity from our parenting relationship. You know...date nights, scheduled sex (so romantic, but apparently necessary), the occasional child-free vacation, and an off-limits mom/dad bedroom eventually. She also emphasized a need to recognize when the marriage is shifting too much focus on the child and how to keep our identities as Bob/Andrea, husband/wife, son/daughter etc. in connection with "mom" and "dad". Afterall, we aren't each other's mom or dad...YUCK...sorry, but I can't stand it when husbands and wives refer to each other as mommy or daddy when no child is present...makes me gag a little (o.k. alot!) So that is pretty much it. We obtained some helpful resources and I think it was beneficial information.
