So yesterday, we found out that we are going to be Auntie Andrea and Uncle Bob one more time. Bob's brother and sister-in-law are pregnant with baby #2 and due in July. We are thrilled at the prospect of having another niece, but the blessed news brought with it a question. What does enthusiasm look like?
We would seriously like to know, because we are feeling a bit hard-pressed at finding it on the faces of some family members. Not all...just some. We understand that our adoption is more laden with paperwork than the normal pregnancy, and that paperwork just isn't enthusiasm-inducing for most people. But darn it, our milestones are just as thrilling to us and important to us, as the milestones facing our pregnant sister-in-law. When we share the news that our homestudy papers are turned in...that's a big deal to us. Crack a smile, ask a question...show some interest. Seriously! We feel like our journey is second rate to a pregnant person. No, I'm not going to spit a kid out of my body in 9 months! We are more like elephants...gestation, in the most basic of ways, it taking a little longer, but it is still significant. URGH. It is so frustrating somedays. So, please, if you know what enthused looks like, tell me. Because obviously I'm missing some hidden signal from some of our family. Maybe it will come when we walk off the plane in 2 years holding OUR bundle of joy.
